Clean Eating Recipes

At the beginning of the year, our family read The Daniel Plan and changed the way we view food. If you haven't had a chance to get your hands on this book, I recommend doing it soon! It is broken down into five sections, and the food section has a detox that is dairy free, gluten free, sugar free and artificial ingredient free. Eating allergy-free and "clean" for a month had so many positive benefits for our family that we are now working on adopting this lifestyle for good! Since January, we have had our share of dairy, gluten and sugar, but it really just makes us feel junky and we don't even really crave these foods anymore - except sugar. I'm a sugar-holic and I need HELP!!

Anyhow, I cooked two recipes a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to share with you that focus on clean eating! Click the recipe titles to be led to the recipe page!

Roast Chicken and Sweet Potatoes
GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, SUGAR FREE, PRESERVATIVE FREE

This recipe was SO easy and SO yummy!

I did three things differently from the recipe:
1. I didn't have a red onion on hand, so we just used a white onion.
2. I used a glass baking dish instead of a baking sheet.
3. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs.

Trice gave it his stamp of approval, and so did Emerson! And of course I loved it :) we served it with a big salad.

Blissful Blueberry Banana Spelt Muffins

DAIRY/EGG FREE, REFINED SUGAR FREE, PRESERVATIVE FREE, but NOT GLUTEN FREE!

These muffins were delicious!!

I did 3 things differently from the recipe:

1. I used agave syrup instead of maple syrup.

2. I didn't use the 6 tablespoons of coconut sugar because... well... I missed that ingredient when I was following the recipe on my phone!

3. I didn't use walnuts because I did not have any on hand.

Even without the added coconut sugar, the muffins were tasty tasty.

Most importantly, this recipe was also Trice and Emerson approved, and we could enjoy our breakfast without worrying about putting harmful things in our bodies!

Have fun testing out these recipes in your own kitchen. Let me know how you like them and if you do any variations of your own!

Xoxo,
Sarah
